The Canadian Cover Star for R.B.I. Baseball 19: Lourdes Gurriel Jr.!
January 20, 2019
Moments ago, on his own turf at Rogers Centre, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. revealed the Canadian cover for R.B.I. Baseball 19 at the Toronto Blue Jays Winterfest.
The Cuban native made his MLB debut on April 20th, 2018 and had quite an eventful Rookie season as the shortstop/second baseman for the Blue Jays. Aside from being named American League Rookie of the Month in July, Lourdes and his brother Yuli, the first baseman for the Houston Astros, made history by becoming the first brothers in MLB history with multi-HR games on the same day (September 21). The excitement doesn’t stop there. Lourdes holds the Blue Jays record for longest multi-hit streak at 11 games, which is also the longest of all-time by any rookie. Gurriel Jr. was able to accomplish that all in just 65 games – that’s pretty impressive!
Gurriel Jr. adjusted well in the big leagues slashing .281/.309/.446, with 11 home runs and 35 RBI. This season he has another shot to showcase his young talent and continue to bring fans entertainment and action at short.
Check out Gurriel Jr. behind the scenes of his first ever cover shoot – he’s a natural!
R.B.I. Baseball 19 is coming this March for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, iOS and Android. Stay tuned to hear about new game features and to see who graces this year’s U.S. cover! Speaking of the U.S. cover star, he’s an infielder that appeared in the 2018 Postseason. That’s your only hint – for now…
