Weekly Roster Update 04/27/18
April 27, 2018
Welcome to the R.B.I Baseball April 28th Roster Update! On Fridays throughout the 2018 regular season we’ll put out a roster update for R.B.I 18 that best reflects the state of the game in Major League Baseball. We’ll tune individual players to represent the latest performances. Did Manny Machado mash three taters this week? We’ll be sure to give him a boost in power. Another 10K performance from Chris Sale? We’ll add a bit more movement to that slider. For the week-four edition, we’ll be focusing on recently called up rookies that look to be making an impact for their clubs in 2018:
Ronald Acuña Jr.
After hitting .333 with 3 SB in his last 8 games in AAA, Acuña got the call to come up to the bigs. The number two prospect in baseball made his debut this week hitting .444 with a home run to boot. This five-tool rising star looks to have Braves fans saying Acuña Matata for many years to come. To congratulate Acuña on his promotion we’ve boosted his Power to all fields, Contact, Fielding, Speed and Steal ability.
It’s hard to keep a guy in the minors who’s slashing .347/.393/.510, especially when that guy has a 70 grade Hit tool, 60 Arm and 65 Overall from scouts. Torres made his debut for the Yankees this past Monday and has already made an impact as he’s hitting .316 with three runs and an RBI to his name. We’ve boosted Torres’ Power to all fields, Contact, Fielding, Speed and Steal ability.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr
Who needs AAA when you’re hitting .350? Gurriel had fans screaming, “Oh Lourdey!” when he skipped over the Buffalo Bisons and straight on to Toronto where he immediately made an impact. The prospect is smoking the ball with a 31% Hard Contact rate and while he’s yet to hit his first tater, it should be on the way considering his 46% Fly Ball rate. We’ve boosted Gurriel’s Contact and Power.
You may have heard Flaherty’s name a few weeks ago when he dominated the Brewers in his 2018 debut. When Adam Wainwright came back from the DL, Flaherty was sent back to AAA where, in 3 starts, he had a 2.25 ERA with 22 K’s and 3 BB over 20 IP. The Cardinals prospect is scheduled to pitch again tomorrow against the Pirates. To celebrate Flaherty’s return to the bigs, we’ve boosted his Curve, Drop and Stamina.
The Dodgers top prospect certainly didn’t take a day off against the Marlins last week as he went 5 IP with 5 K and 0 ER against Miami. Buehler’s 70 grade fastball was on display as it hit 100 mph and left Marlins hitters in the dust as they were only able to hit a meager .111 against the pitch. While Buehler was sent back down to AAA for logistical reasons, he’ll return to the bump tomorrow to take on the Giants. We’ve boosted Buehler’s Drop and Stamina.
The Padres sport one of the best farm systems in baseball and Lauer is one of the many arms looking to make an impact for the club. While Lauer struggled a bit with his control in his 2018 debut against the Rockies (at Coors no less), his 55 grade Control should show up in his second major league game this upcoming Monday against the Giants. We’ve boosted Lauer’s Velocity, Curve, Drop, Stamina and Speed Difference.
