Will the game track my stats?

The game will track all of the stats that you accumulate versus the CPU, which can be viewed and compared to other players via the following:

-On Xbox One and Xbox 360, choose the Leaderboards option from the Game Launch Menu.

-On PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, press Triangle on the Main Menu.

-On iOS devices, in Game Center, which can be accessed directly from the app by tapping on the Leaderboards option in the top left corner of the Main Menu.

The game will not track and display each individual MLB players’ stats throughout Season or Postseason play.  During every game mode, the stats displayed for each MLB player will always be from the last season that they played in MLB.

Can I change my lineup?

You cannot change your lineup outside of a baseball game.  But you can pinch hit for any batter with a member of your team’s bench by choosing Substitution from the Pause Menu.  You can also access this screen directly on Xbox One and Xbox 360 by pressing LB or on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 by pressing L1.

When batting, I keep striking out or hitting the ball weakly.  Am I doing something wrong?

Practice makes perfect!  Try taking some pitches and getting a feel for the different speeds and the different way the pitches move.  Experiment with different swing timing.  You will get the best results if you try to make contact directly on the barrel of the bat.  Moving the batter around in the batter’s box with the analog stick or directional pad will help line the ball up on the barrel.

Is there a way to swing for more power?  Or to try to hit a fly ball or a ground ball?

You can hold UP while swinging to influence a ground ball result.  You can hold DOWN while swinging to influence a fly ball result.

Is there a way to throw different types of pitches?

You can hold DOWN while starting your pitch to throw a faster pitch.  You can hold UP while starting your pitch to throw a slower pitch which, depending on the pitcher’s ability, has a chance to drop in the dirt before reaching the plate.  After a pitch has been started you can hold LEFT and/or RIGHT to move the pitch in either direction.

My game ended before the 9th inning.  What‘s up with that?

There are two possibilities:

1) The game features a “Mercy Rule”.  If either team is leading by 10 or more runs at the end of a full inning, the game is over

2) Before an Exhibition game, you can change the inning length of the game on the Team Select screen.  Be sure to check the innings number here and set it to your liking.

Fielding is really hard! Is there a way to make it easier?

Yes. From the Pause Menu go to Settings and you can choose one of three options for Fielding:

-Standard: Fully controlled by the player

-Assisted: The AI will field the ball for you.  You choose where and when to throw. This is the default for the mobile version

-Automatic: All fielding is handled by the AI.

It doesn’t seem like I can control my fielders on iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch?

On mobile, Fielding is set to Assisted by default.  See the above question for a description of the Fielding options.

How do I choose what base to throw to?

On consoles, point the analog stick or directional pad in the direction of the base you want to throw to, then press A on Xbox One and Xbox 360 or X on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3:

DOWN = Home

RIGHT = First Base

UP = Second Base

LEFT = Third Base

On mobile devices, press the icon corresponding to the base on the diamond graphic.

How do I control my baserunners?

On consoles, point the analog stick or directional pad in the direction of the base you want to run to, then press X on Xbox One and  Xbox 360 or Square on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3:

DOWN = Home

RIGHT = First Base

UP = Second Base

LEFT = Third Base

To retreat, press toward the base and press A on Xbox One and Xbox 360 or X on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

On mobile devices, swipe along the basepath on the diamond graphic in the direction you’d like the runner to go.

How do I steal a base?

On consoles, when the pitcher begins his pitch, tell the runner to advance using the controls described in the question above.

On mobile devices, tap on the actual baserunner.

How do I bunt?

Press B on Xbox One and Xbox 360 or Circle on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 to toggle bunting.  On mobile devices, press the smaller button above the swing button.  You can influence the direction of your bunt by pressing left or right at the moment of contact.  Bunting on the barrel of the bat will produce better results.

Why am I receiving leaderboard connection errors on my Xbox One ?

We are currently working on a fix to this issue that should be released in the upcoming weeks. Until then there is a work around if you are receiving a “could not connect to Leaderboard” error. Make sure you quit the app before turning your Xbox One off or when you turn it back on and you shouldn’t see the error. If you do not quit the app, you will see this error for every game you complete during your season.

How do I get the All-Star Game to work in Season mode?

There is a known issue we are working on with All-Star mode and alternate jerseys. You can avoid getting the problem by simply choosing the normal uniform which is located at the top of the list right before the all-star game begins. The game should start without any issues.
